Rhetoric Literature co-op 7 Elizabethan Poetry (POC Mrs. Ingalls)

Post by JodyI »

Homework below for R Lit co-op 7

Note that there are two documents to print:

1. Homework pages (several pages: keep in order)
Elizabethan Poetry assignment 2024.docx
(8.75 KiB) Downloaded 58 times
(I noticed the links for the examples of performances of "Barbara Allen" and "Get Up and Bar the Door" did not translate from my laptop. You should be able to google and find these or similar examples...text or e-mail me for a link if not.)

2. Elizabethan poetry packet
Ballads and Sonnets.docx
(107.36 KiB) Downloaded 38 times

Please thoroughly read your instructions and do this assignment in the order given. We are covering quite a few poets and there are lots of instructions. I promise if you keep your pages in order and follow the assignment, all will go well. You should be able to edit the assignment document and type your answers. Let me know if you have any issues. These documents are copied and edited from previous years, so let me know if there are formatting confusions.

Many of the referenced poems are in the posted poetry packet. SOME of the poems you will need to find in Norton's Anthology. I've also provided online links for these poems in case you don't have a copy of Norton's.

It seems like a lot. . .the amount of reading is less than normal - it is just a lot of parts and pieces with multiple short responses required.

Poetry was a HUGE deal during the Renaissance - giving time to this assignment will lay a foundation for our Shakespeare unit. Shakespeare wrote his plays using this type of poetry - so consider this your Shakespeare warm up.
