Read the Burns and Blake poetry in the Y3 Poetry and Short Story Anthology (on a separate post).
Please PRINT and bring these pages to class (p. 3-14). (Note, the poem "London" is its own separate PDF.)
Homework for both literature and writing are posted below (note, I'll be posting an updated syllabus for these classes that shows our first semester schedule and gives homework for both classes. We've just made some changes with literature, but it should stay pretty consistent for semester one. You should see that sometime next week if not before).
The assignments are technically optional for this semester. If you are doing the government class and opting out on any part of the assignments, please DO read the assignments and be thinking about them before class.
Also, whether you do the full assignments for co-op 2 or not, DO READ THROUGH the Blake and Burns poems at least once before class.
Poetry
1) Read Burns and Blake poetry in the Anthology plus read “London” by Blake.
2) Thoroughly read the Literature section in TOG week 5 curriculum. (Be sure your curriculum edition has the correct info for week 5. If it seems to be another topic, let me know.)
3) Be familiar with the literary terms listed.
4) Complete the Beginning Level questions.
Writing:
1) Read WEAL ch. 3-4 (Note: Skip the entire "Drama" section in ch. 4.)
2) Compare and Contrast one of these sets of poems: the two poems titled "Holy Thursday" OR "Infant Joy" and "Infant Sorrow." No need for a full essay. Use 1-2 solid paragraphs with a strong topic sentence and draw on information from the poem. (This is the first analysis attempt, so give it your best shot based on guidance gleaned from the book.) If you are opting out of semester one assignments, we WILL still get to do this in class.
GLANCE AHEAD:
Mrs. Pepper will be covering Frankenstein in co-op 3. Feel free to start reading now.
