I am so pleased with the participation and quality of work on your students' maps! Go cartography!!! :D

I have taught all aspects needed to complete their maps and each skill was practiced in class. Hopefully, your students feel empowered to finish up their masterpieces! Here is a summary of what the plan was:

Complete compass rose

Complete your nameplate with a scale/name/description/etc ... Nameplate should have 3-D effect architectural features and all writing should have a "fancy" element. Typical nameplate colors are red, blue and gold. Use markers for outlines and line details, then fill with color pencil. Color pencils when layered (two colors over each other) make darker or more interesting shades.

Finish water - add at least a few of some type of waves

Finish land - it does not all have to be colored in, but typically shoreline is complete

Add at least "part of" a name for the country/ocean/etc. Using the plan ...pencil lines for letters, pencil parts of letters, then use marker to make each little letter part

Water monster or ship - they have been "excused" from adding this element as we did not have sufficient time to teach it. However, they are welcome to include it.

Outside Framework - this is also optional at this point. Many of the maps have a beautiful border around the exterior.

I am available via email if they want input/help. I also told them they are welcome to seek out a personal audience :D

Please have your students bring their maps for display at the UC. Oct 15.

Finally, please pray for the details for the still life painting I intent to teach the next two coops! Students should have their small paperback book (5" ish) on the thicker side if possible. Please let me know if you have a problem obtaining one for them to use. It will NOT be useable when we are done with it BTW!

Blessings to you all!
