For co-op two literature, please do the following:

1) Read or listen to Ivanhoe (I have sent your parents an audio link for a great version of this, shortened by not retold). Any version you like is fine as long as it's not a "youth" version.

2) Answer the following in a well-developed paragraph or two, using specifics from the book. Implement the writing principles you have learned in writing class so far. A full essay is fine if that's easier for your thought process but not needed. I will NOT be combing through your answer for grammar, etc, but be sure grammar and mechanics are clean enough they don't not distract from your message.
  • Who, in your opinion, is the heroine of the story? Why? (point to specifics in the story)
  • Whom do you think Sir Walter Scott intended to be the heroine of the story? (Could be the same as your pick.) What incidents, action, or description support this?

Come to class ready to discuss the book. Think about how this 1800's view of the Middle Ages might differ from the poems we read straight from the time period.
