Co-op 4 Dialectic History Assignment

Hi Mamas,
I wanted to post a few notes about Dialectic History and the upcoming student presentations...
Carol and I are enjoying your students and are pleased with their level of engagement. It is evident much reading, discussion, and learning is going on at home. We are looking through their binders each week, reviewing their questions, key figure cards, timeline, and geography. Our comments on their work can usually be found on their question page.
Next co-op covers weeks 7-9 and your student will be responsible for a presentation on one country in South America and their struggle for independence. The project was explained to them in class and is described on their assignment sheet as well. The expectation is that they will speak briefly (about 3 minutes) about that country and cover 3 different time periods: Pre-Columbian Era, Spanish Era, and Independence. There is information in the form of a chart included in the teacher’s notes in weeks 7-9 that may be helpful as you guide your student.
A sample of the expected visual aids is on the assignment sheet and was shown in class.
Here is the list of students and assigned country:
Annelise, Ecuador
Annsley, Columbia
Elizabeth, Uruguay
Norah, Argentina
Colin, Suriname
Johnathan, French Guiana
Sam, Brazil
Leyton, Venezuela
Jeremiah, Guyana
Margaret-Anne, Chile
Lucy, Peru
Presley, Paraguay
Suzannah, Bolivia
Please touch base with either of us if you have any questions about the assignment/project.
Ellen
