Unit Celebration #3 - Decades Party Food & RSVP
Posted: Wed Apr 17, 2019 11:21 pm
We are gearing up for our Decades Party at the Ingalls. We have some fun acts for the talent show. Now we just need the FOOD.
In case those of you who lived through the 60s, 70s, and 80s have never really thought about it, these weren't great years for the culinary world. Think lots of processed food:) We turned out ok - right. Debatable. Ha!Ha! We are going to throw health out the window and take a food walk down memory lane. We are not promising delicious - but I bet these dishes will bring back some memories.
UC #3 will provide main dishes and drinks. You all will provide desserts and sides. We are asking each family to contribute $10 to offset some costs since our UC team is so small.
Main Dishes: Beanie Weenies and Hamburger Helper (we'll also have grilled hot dogs in case you just can't go there
Dessert: We are having a JELLO COOK-OFF!!!! Please bring a jello salad or jello dessert - if you can put it in a mold - even better. Judges will be looking for presentation and taste.
Sides and Snacks are up to you all. Please plan to bring two things from the following list or do your own research. Maybe make one of your childhood favorites.
1960s
Fiddle Faddle/Pringles
Lipton Onion Soup Dip and Chip
Stuffed Celery/Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes
Waldorf Salad
Swedish Meatballs
1970s
Cheese Fondue
Cheese Ball or Cheese Log with crackers and veggies
Cheez Wizz (or any cheese in a can that you squirt onto crackers or in a celery stick;)
Deviled Eggs
Quiche
Pigs in a Blanket
Salad Bar with Thousand Island Dressing
1980s
Seven Layer Tex Mex Dip
Tri Colored Pasta Salad
Spinach Dip in a Bread Bowl
Cool Ranch Doritos
Potato Skins
Please RSVP with the number of people coming and the food you will bring. This would be a fun event for grandparents. My mom is especially excited about the Jello Cook-off. She's brushing off her recipes.
