Hi Everyone!
I hope Dialectic Writing students have enjoyed the first 4 weeks. I have!
We are doing some poetry, I look forward to what they turn in this coming Thursday for TOG Co-op 5. Below are the homework assignments for Co-op 6 (poetry) and Co-op 7 (the beginning of our play).
I had trouble attaching so I just pasted onto here. Please print out and if you can, students should have their homework assignment available to view while I am giving it to help clear up any questions.

Dialectic Writing Homework Due Co-op #6

Vocabulary Words: fluctuate, frankly, geriatric, hostile
GramSum
Assignment: Biography Poems

Please choose two people and write a biography poem about each. There is no length requirement, and there is not technically a grading rubric either, but you do need to include the following in your poems:

First and last name
Personal characteristics
Where they live/lived
Relationships
How they felt
Important achievements, goals, dreams, ambitions, or lack thereof :)

Here are some ideas to get your writing started---

A historical character

A fictional character from a book or movie

A fictional character you made up

Yourself or yourself in the future (autobiographical but ok!)

A family member

Dialectic Homework Due Co-op #7

Vocab Words: incite, irreconcilable, lament, malicious
GramSum
Assignment: Brainstorming the Details; Please complete Part One and Part Two for co-op 7!

Part One:
Based on your notes in class from co-op 6, neatly write or type the
WHAT
WHO
WHEN
WHERE
WHY
(...of what we decided on in class together about our play. This is very important that we are all on the same page about setting, characters, and main events before we move forward. So, for step one, you need to write WHAT the play will be about, WHO we decided to be the characters, WHY the story matters or WHY the characters do what they did, etc. Remember all the important pieces that you can.)

Part Two:
To share in class, please brainstorm, forming more details about the setting, characters, and events.

There is no grading rubric, but I do expect everyone to have the 5 Ws filled in adequately and each student needs to share in class the extra details they would like to add to our story.
