Greetings Flexible Tapestry Families,
So thankful our older levels were able to meet last week at the Costello’s home. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility, and we certainly missed all of our families with younger children. As the rest of the educational world is on the roller coaster of planning and replanning during the days of Covid, we too must come up with strategies that work for our group.
As the leadership has been praying and chatting about how best to move forward with our co-op meetings, it has been helpful to go back to some of the philosophies that form the foundation of our group. When our co-op was formed many years ago, we agreed to these principles:
*Academic - The primary academic focus of our co-op is our Dialectic and Rhetoric students. Our desire is to keep these levels meeting in person or on Zoom to ensure the highest academic accountability, rigor, and motivation possible.
*Enrichment - The Upper and Lower Grammar classes were added to give our younger siblings and young families wishing to grow into our older levels an opportunity to add to their home studies with fun and engaging classes that flow right along with our Tapestry curriculum.
*Fellowship - With a shared vision of education and desire to encourage one another spiritually, we all love the friendships that both moms and students develop when we meet together.
With this in mind, we want to lay out our plan for our final co-ops of this semester (we dare not think into January yet:). Northside Baptist Church is following the public school policy - when schools are NTI, no groups are able to meet in their building.
Co-op 7 - November 19 - Dialectic and Rhetoric students will meet at the Costellos. The day will flow much like our last co-op. We are so thankful for their hospitality. All Dialectic students should plan to be there for the whole day. Mrs. Searl will be teaching the younger writing class, so any student in Mrs. Ragland’s writing class should come for writing that morning.
December 3- Play Date for Upper and Lower Grammar at the Scroggs. Amber will be sending more detailed information. The plan is to have some TOG story time and art projects.
Co-op 8 - December 17 - Dialectic and Rhetoric students will meet at the Peppers. We will use the cabin and the house. Details will be sent closer to that date.
Thoughts on Covid as we move forward:
We recognize that each family must make choices according to their conscience.
We recognize that those of us who choose to meet are taking a risk of being exposed to Covid. If one of our families gets Covid after a co-op meeting and has accidentally exposed the rest of us, we want to deal with each other in a posture of grace.
We will provide an online option for your student to participate in class if you are unable to attend.
