For the next few weeks we are joining Mrs. Greeley‘s class and Mrs. Taylor‘s class in a colony project. You can print the colony project summary off of the dialectic history page on the forum. I will also try to attach it here. It will give you an overview of the next few weeks.
This week we are focusing on Writing a factual paragraph on the assigned colony. Sixth graders should write 6 to 11 sentences and younger students should write at least five sentences on their colony.
The factual paragraph should include things such as: Who, what, where, why, when, information on the founding of the colony, geography, religion, relationships with Native Americans, economic opportunities, any other interesting information that you want to share.
The colony assignments are listed below:
Kinsley and Riley – New Hampshire
Ella-Rhode Island
Abigail – Connecticut
Yemi-Virginia
Titus and Jubilee-South Carolina
Erin– Georgia
Students need to bring a typed draft to co-op 10. I will provide feedback by the end of the day. A final draft needs to be typed and brought to co-op 11 or emailed to me. Mrs. Greeley is planning to publish the factual paragraphs, historical fiction short story and the other assignments into a book to complete the project.
Do your best and have fun!
