Dear Parents of Lower Grammar Kiddos,

The LG Planning Team is having fun thinking and planning for these precious children. Below is some info you will need to know for YOUR planning at home - an attached book list and an overview of the class sessions.

At the bottom of this post is a list of 16 books selected to be used in the LG Literature Sessions this year. You may chose to not purchase these at home since we will be using these in class, or you may prefer to have them at home to read with your child. Your choice! (The chart would not attach, so I copied and pasted a list - it's not pretty or easy to use, so I'll make sure you receive the pdf version soon!)

Please note on this attached list the 3 books that say "sub." These are not the selections currently recommended in the newest version of TOG, but were selected for use in class due a more appropriate length or another reason.

LG Literature Overview:
This LG Lit time will designed to have a cozy, story-time feel with activities to gently interact with the content of the story and also basic story elements.
We will select 16 books from the TOG Y2 LG level literature selections. Selection of these books will be based on the length of the book (can this be enjoyably read/shared in a one-hour class setting?), while touching on the main aspects of history covered this year, thus approximately four books per unit will be chosen.
This class will follow the I Love Words session since some activities may overlap at times, such as creating a simple lapbook or other writing project based on the story.
Memory work will be built in to this class. A simple, appropriate piece will be selected to memorize per quarter, thus at least four poems or scriptures will be completed during this year.

Please let us know if you have any questions at all.

PS The chart pdf would not attach so I copied and pasted below. You can see that this didn't transfer well. I'll get the original document to you soon so no need for you to retype, et.

Thank you, Team LG!

Will you be posting the book list so we can see what if any books were not signed up to be provided for from our meeting on Monday?

Hi Ladies,

Just a gentle reminder to whoever is teaching that Sophia will be "auditing" the class this first hour instead taking UG writing. Didn't want you to think you were going crazy if you have one less copy than you thought you needed. :)

Blessings,
Phyllis

Phyllis,

Any chance to be with Sophie is good! She is a joy.

Mom, this will make 10 LG Lit Students.

They are a precious group!
