(The below assignment is also attached to the verb notes given in class at co-op 2.)
PARENTS: The main goal of this year's writing class is that writing concepts covered in class should be incorporated into student writing. I will give feedback MOSTLY on material covered up to current date in class, building as we go. A guide for other general color-pen feedback is here:
Please note, the next writing assignment is for the VFW contest linked in the assignment. Students will have the opportunity to record and submit their writing/speech, but the decision to do so/arrangements are up to parents. I will submit all participating student entries as a group to the local VFW at the end of October. More info on recording to come.
Homework for Co-op 3:
1. Finish both verb exercise sheets (Verb Exercises and Nominalizations/Passive Verbs).
2. Collect 10 new words whose definition was previously unknown to you. Include these three things to bring to class, ready to share:
*word
*definition
*source sentence (i.e. from literature SS, text, or book where you found it)
*new sentence of your own using the word (or use your word in a writing assignment )
BONUS: use your word (naturally and appropriately) in class.
3. Write rough draft of VFW essay/speech. Keep in mind class notes on writing and incorporate your military snapshot or a similar idea. Write your rough draft for possible sharing in class.
