R Writing due co-op 5

Reminder of assignment due co-op 5:
1) Vocab as usual.
Source required to be part of pleasure or school reading or gleaned from conversation (check with me if you have a reasonable source besides these). Several students hit the ball out of the park (to slide in a cliche) with their words this week. Only Yesterday is a great source for vocab if you're looking for ideas. Work at incorporating your vocab words into conversation and writing.
2) Complete Modifier Exercises and Show vs. Tell page.
3) Complete any needed edits on your VFW. Keep an eye out for info on recording for the contest.
4) Expand abstraction into a longer piece (1 1/2-2 pages). Any format. Please contact me for pointers if that's too nebulous for comfort. The goal is to incorporate writing techniques covered in class to date. If you need to tweak your abstraction to add to it, check with me.
Procedure:
1) Brainstorm ideas
2) Write your piece (one or two sittings should be plenty)
3) Leave your piece for at least a day. Then read your piece. Comb through every word, cut every unnecessary one, and add words as needed with class principles in mind.
4) Repeat step three at least once or twice.
5) Turn in your final version and at least one or two of the drafts before your final edits.
