Dialectic History Announcement

While I only have one returning Dialectic student this year, Jeopardy has typically been a much-anticipated review game in this class/learning level. It seems like our weeks have been so full of content we haven’t had time to include it just yet. But I think I’ve created the space to play a round next week at Co-op 6, so I wanted to give the students fair warning. If they have extra time in the next week, they may want to review some of their materials. All the material included in the game has been discussed in our Dialectic History class. Just like the game show, the lower dollar value questions should be easier while the higher dollar value questions will likely include more obscure/detailed facts.
The categories are as follows:
Where in the World? – History-based, Geography-related questions
American Affairs – centered on American events
First and Last in Pictures – This is a simple category where students will need to identify the person (presidents up to this point) pictured when shown one of the key figure cards they have completed so far.
Everywhere Else – world events, mostly those related to happenings outside the US
Looking for a Date – timeline-related questions – Students will not be asked for specific dates, but statements will include the date a specific event happened.
This is also a great time to make sure your student is keeping history homework, classwork, notes, maps, etc. organized. Though I am not requiring students to turn in their notebooks this year, staying organized is a great skill to work on at this age.
I look forward to seeing your students next week!
Blessings-
Ellen
