Due Co-op 7 (Romantic Poets, Part 2):

Complete all the literature assignment as noted on syllabus:

1) Read the Literature section in TOG week 7 curriculum
(posted below...please note, p. 22 on the PDF is included twice. Check page numbers before you read).

2) Read Byron, Shelley, and Keats in anthology.

3) Be familiar with literary terms listed (add to your vocabulary bank...start one if you don't have one :) ).

4) Complete Beginning Level questions 1-2 only.

For writing, craft two mini-essays on the following:

1) What is the subject and meaning of “Surprised by Joy”? How does Wordsworth’s rhyme scheme affect the message?

Use your rules for writing literary analysis (use the author and title in your thesis, support your thesis with specific proof from poem [use quotes, but no need to reference or cite the line since it’s just a single poem your referencing], use present tense) and bring in any other relevant “proof” (i.e. diction, rhythm, etc.) from the poem to support your thesis.

A healthy paragraph of at least ½ page should be sufficient. Up to a full page is fine.

2) How does the poet use language to connect the speaker and nature? How does this support the poem’s theme? Use any relevant proof (rhythm, rhyme, imagery) to support your thesis. (Be sure your thesis is an opinion to be proven.)

At least ¾ of a page.

Mrs. Ingalls,

Are both of the mini essays supposed to be about "Surprised by Joy"?
