Students will receive this assignment on their in-class notes at co-op 1.
I'm copying the assignment here as well:
1. Finish PUD synonym activity (started in class). Stick to time limit. Bring to class as is.
2. Pick an emotionally significant place (tree, specific room or seat, particular house). Observe it carefully, noting details with all five senses. Then, write about the place from memory. Use narrative or description. Apprx. 1 page.
3. Collect 10 new words whose definition was previously unknown to you. Include these three things to bring to class, ready to share:
*word
*definition
*source sentence (i.e. from literature SS, text, or book where you found it)
*new sentence of your own, using the word (OR work the new word into one of your assignments )
4. Think of a scene or event to describe. Write a description of it, but limit yourself to describing only what could fit in a picture frame. Instead of describing a week-long youth event, capture a snap-shot of time. Instead of describing your grandfather’s entire farm, depict a scene that could fit into 4X6 picture frame. Approximately one paragraph of well-chosen words.
5. Write a second snap-shot with a military/veteran theme, keeping in mind the VFW contest.
