Morning Worship Plans - Hymns of the 1800s

Post by PAdams »

Dear TOG Families,

Attached is the schedule for the Morning Worship Plans for this school year - Hymns of the 1800s.

Please read the notes below to be prepared for this special time together.

NOTES for leading worship:
Each family has signed up to lead one morning of worship time. During this time, please plan to share something with our group that helps us better understand the context of the hymn or why it is special: ie a story about the origin of the hymn or what it means to you or a particularly special line, etc are ideas for this time.

PLEASE PLAN and PRACTICE so that your talk and the singing of the hymn take only 15 minutes OR LESS. Most hymns probably take at least 4 minutes to sing depending on how many verses are sung. At home, please sing your hymn with the verses you plan to sing to have a good sense of how much time you'll have available for your talk. You'll probably have 7 minutes as a MAXIMUM amount of time for your talk. (FYI The total worship time has 20 min designated for worship. But Michelle will need 5 minutes for announcements.)

Perhaps you'd like to practice at home in the weeks prior to each Coop session so your children can enjoy singing at Coop and actually learn these special hymns. Links are included so you can easily access each hymn. Links were chosen to have lyrics included, as well as hopefully to closely match the tune in the NBC hymnals. A variety of styles are included. Of course, feel free to find your own preferred versions.

Onward Christian Soldiers! = )
