Dear Ladies,

I apologize for the head fake yesterday on picking up homework in the homework box. I kept the folders but returned the books so that I could grade your student's efforts with thought and care. I will return the assignments at the next co-op.

Also, many of you already know that we will be combining the dialect class and working on writing a one-act play over the next three co-ops. Students have been assigned to a team and given some things to think about to get their creative juices flowing. We started to watch a video in class that was intended to give everyone a good idea of what we were striving for but we didn't get to finish watching it. I've included the link below and would appreciate it if you would show it to your student(s) sometime before the next co-op.

Blessings,
Phyllis

Dear Moms!

It's really hard to believe that we are in the final stretch with co-op. If you are like me, I'm ready to move into the more relaxed pace of summer activities and summer planning (which may not be so relaxed  ). These last three co-ops should be fun for the students as they collaborate on writing a one-act play that they will perform during our last co-op together. Hopefully, they have their notes from co-op 13 where I noted their team assignments and the nursery rhyme they will be using as the basis for their play. The teams will need your help with scheduling time that they can all work together on this project--I encourage them to get together at least one time per week, if that's at all possible. Facetime and other alternative communication platforms are okay if there's just no way to schedule a meeting. We are combining the classes for this assignment, so all students:

1. Need to watch the following video before class tomorrow, even if they've already watched it once. I'd like for the students to pay close attention to props, costuming, how the set is laid out, and how the actors are using motion to convey action. They will incorporate those elements into their plays as well.

2. Print out the notes for tomorrow. There are several inserted objects in the document that may or may not have saved well. Also, some of the pages are in landscape format. I recommend that you download the document and look at it to ensure that it's formatted correctly and will print well. If there's a problem with the document, please let me know as soon as possible so I can get it fixed quickly. Sending a text to me would probably be the quickest way to contact me.

I will hand back graded papers (with folders) in class tomorrow morning, so they'll be able to use their normal folders for their essays that are due.

Blessings,
Phyllis

Ladies, I just wanted to give you a heads up about class on Thursday. There will be no lesson as the students will be using the entire class time to continue working on their plays. Hopefully, the teams have been able to meet at least once during the last three weeks and have a good idea of how they will be handling the workload. If you have any concerns in this area, please don't hesitate to let me or Brook know so that we can help facilitate. Also, I recommend that at least one student in each team bring a computer to use for writing the play. Again, my hope is that this is not the first you are hearing about this but that the teams have already started writing together. I will likely open the class with a quick question and answer time so everyone can benefit from hearing the questions. It would be helpful if the students have those questions already thought out and written down.

Blessings,
Phyllis
