UG Literature Homework for Co-op 7

Post by AlisonO »

We had a fun class discussing I, Juan de Pareja. It seems it was a favorite by quite a few kids! Morning Girl is next, it is a shorter book so should be easy to get through by Co-op 7. I told them we aren't having to rush too much to fit it all in before Christmas, so once they are finished with Morning Girl go ahead and start Thunderstorm in the Church. Attached is SAP 14 for Morning Girl. Just one SAP this time! I will attached SAP 15 too in case they get ahead on Thunderstorm in the Church.

I wanted to mention that the local libraries have a digital (free!) app call Hoopla. I checked and Morning Girl's audio book is on there. This app has been great if you don't want to buy the book or if you don't want to have to read it to your student. Not all the books are on there or with an audio. Morning Girl, Sign of the Beaver, and Amos Fortune I know are all on there in audio version.

Looking ahead, I told them for Co-op 8 I want them to pick their favorite book (or chapter in one of the books) that we have read thus far and do a plot diagram with it to present to the class. We are doing this in Lauren's grammar class too, so shouldn't be too hard. I would like them to be able to orally present it. I'll post more after Co-op 7 with more instructions, but I just want them to be thinking on this.

Lastly, as we prepare for the next Unit Celebration (January or February)...this group seems to really love acting things out. :) So I am going to work on putting together a short skit they can perform for it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this class...just to let you parents know! They all participate and get excited talking about the books!

Happy Reading!
Alison
