To clarify and ensure all of the reports are uniform, please follow the steps below:Additionally, I've attached an example of the format for the cover sheet we will be using for the writing contest. This will allow the judge(s) to read the report without knowing the name or grade of the student writing it. The font for the entire report, cover page and citations page is Arial 12 pt, double-spaced. The margins are 1-inch all the way around and each paragraph must be indented. The cover page must be a separate page and have the name, grade, Tapestry of Grace Co-op centered in the middle of the page. All the students can easily reformat their papers if they're using a different font and it's entirely possible we will need to make final adjustments as more information comes in. Please don't hesitate to ask questions if you have any!
1. Move the title from the top of the page of the beginning of the report to ONLY the cover page.
2. The page number is to go in the upper right-hand corner of each page, but NOT on the cover page.
3. Create a citations page with at least three citations in MLA format using an on-line citations generator. Give the citations page the title...Citations Page...in the same font and size as the rest of the report and centered-justified on the page.
4. Student's name is ONLY on the cover page.
5. Share the complete report with me again, including the cover page, report and citations page. I will likely continue to "tweak" your reports until I'm satisfied with everything. I will let you know when I think we're done with revisions. At that point, print the entire report out, STAPLE IT IN THE UPPER LEFT-HAND CORNER OF THE PAPER and bring it to co-op 11 with you. I will be handing the reports to Mrs. Ingalls that day and she will turn them in, so there won't be any opportunity to make changes or corrections at that point.
I love this opportunity for the Dialectic class and am grateful for all of the students' hard work (and yours too!! ) and am looking forward to seeing the outcome of the contest. Needless to say, I'm already proud of everyone for working so hard and doing their best with their writing every co-op, not just for this contest.
Secondly, I promised the students to post an example eulogy for them. It's the one that I read in class on Rosa Parks. Feel free to look up other eulogies if it's helpful. I saw several online that would be great to read, especially if they help with the use of humor, understanding the purpose, etc. I have asked the students to include two figures of speech that I taught on Thursday and a vocab word that they haven't used before. If your student's notes on the figures of speech aren't complete enough and you'd like to see mine, I'd be happy to send them to you. Please just let me know.
